Angkor and Ozymandius – The West Gate

This is probably my favourite gate into the old city of Angkor Thom. It’s almost always deserted, and is incredibly atmospheric and mysterious.

This was once the entrance to the downtown of the largest city in the world. Put in that perspective, it reminds me of Shelly’s Ozymandius, in a way. All that’s left of the grandeur of the biggest city is a ruined gate.

3 shot handheld hdr, shot on my D7000 with the kit lens. Tonemapped with photomatix, touched a bit in Photoshop to add some depth and remove the more cartoony HDR look.
