I’m sure he’s not a ship’s captain, I just thought he looked like one.
This is actually an older post from my Flickr page, but I like how the image turned out, and felt like posting it again…
He reminded me of what a seafaring man, or a ships captain, would look like, with his nautically-inspired beard and white hair, and of course, his pipe. You can imagine him in some yellowed old tavern, spinning yarns and carving scrimshaw; or perhaps on the high seas, on the rolling deck of Her Majesty’s finest.
I actually took this on the street in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. He was walking down the sidewalk and happened to put his pipe in his mouth at the right time for my capture.
It goes to show that Phnom Penh is a pretty international city; street photography can yield astonishingly varied results.
