Royal Palace on the Riverfront, Phnom Penh, Cambodia

Preabaromareachaveang ព្រះ បរមរាជវាំង

It’s seriously called that. It’s the Khmai word for Royal Palace. Just saying it is good for some serious vocal calisthenics.

The Palace is really an excellent testament to Khmer architecture.

In front of the Palace is a nice park overlooking the river. The park is a great place to hang in the evenings. You can buy fried tarantulas or crickets or baby chickens, silkworm larvae, snails and shellfish, or any other snack that you’re in the mood for.

I’m fairly pleased with this shot. It is an HDR, but I actually shot it handheld, and without autobracketing. I just braced my arm against a lightpost.

Taken in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

Vintage post from my older Flickr Blog, circa 2009.

I love the colours! The light shining through the building is fantastic.
